How old can my prescription be to order glasses ?

If you are aged between 17 and 70 years of age your prescription will need to be under two years old to be valid and if you are over 70 years up to 12 months old. If not you will need to have an eye test. (These time limits are necessary because your eyesight may change over time and the limits are recommended by joint committees of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, the Association of Optometrists and the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians.)

Full eye examinations are offered at our associate practice Coley Opticians 30 Broad Street March. Alternatively you will need to go to your local optician and have an eye test. Following the eye test, your optician will give you a signed copy of your prescription. You are under no obligation to purchase glasses from this source.

If you can read your prescription (NHS example above), then you are ready to browse our product categories, entering all the prescription details once your frame has been selected. It is important that you enter onto our online order form ALL details written on the prescription. Anything written on your prescription, should be typed into our online order form, put on the mailing document, or related to our operators over the telephone.

If you have two or more prescriptions, one power for distance viewing, a second for reading and possibly a third for intermediate use, you will need to enter the correct prescription for the type of use for your new glasses.

If you wish to have bifocals, enter ALL the details on your prescription form. If you have any difficulty or cannot read your prescription we will try to help you.

There may also be a value for your "PD" or pupillary distance. This is the distance between your pupils. This reading will default to 64mm for long distance glasses and 60mm for reading glasses, or you can measure your own

Can I use a NHS voucher?

Yes. The voucher should be sent to Squarezebras.com, 30 Broad St March, Cambs PE15 8TG. The voucher should be lesz than 6 months old. Please ensure that you validate the reason why you qualify for a NHS voucher by ticking the correct box.

A refund will be credited to your payment card once the voucher has been recieved.

Can I order varifocal lenses?

Yes. However because of the need for accurate measurements, we will forward your chosen empty frame to you. We ask you to take a digital photograph of your self wearing the frame from the front and then the side. Email the picture back to us. Return the empty frame. We will use special software to analyse the fitting and make up your varifocal lenses. Better still though, call in to our practice in Cambridgeshire for an individual fitting.

Can I order glasses for my children?

Although we have children's sunglass frames on our website we cannot glaze them with prescription lenses.

Will my glasses fit me?

To ensure your glasses fit comfortably there are some additional measurements you may wish to enter, such as the head width (b) and side length (a).



We will try to preset your new glasses as close as possible to these measurements. Alternatively visit out associate practice of Coley Opticians in March, Cambs to have your new glasses personally fitted free of charge . Remember to take your squarezebras.com receipt with you.

How do I order glasses?

1 Choose your glasses. If you wish to purchase an empty frame go straight to check out.

2 If you wish to have the frames glazed with prescription lenses simply click on the ‘add prescription' tab.

3 Enter your prescription details.

4 Enter distance, intermediate or near use.

5 Select your lens option.

6 Go to check out and payment screen. You will need your credit card and delivery address details.

Please make sure you have the following information:

•  Your current prescription (less than two years old if you are under 70 years of age and 12 months if you are over 70 years.)

•  Your Credit or Debit card details.

•  Details of the name and address for delivery of your glasses including the post code.

Our friendly customer service team will take your order over the telephone.

They will talk you through different lens options, and ask for your prescription details.

A copy of your prescription should be sent/faxed in with your order, and will be kept on file (unless you otherwise specify) so that should you choose to re-order, we will already have your details to hand.

Can I trial frames first?

Yes, order your ‘frames only', pay for them by credit card, and try them at home. Return them within 10 days in the original condition and we will refund your initial payment in FULL. Therefore there is no charge. This service is complimentary and will be monitored individually to ensure this free service is not abused

How much is the postage and packing?

All orders will be sent by 1 st Class Royal Mail for a charge of £2.95. Recorded next day special delivery is available at a cost of £7.50.

How long will my order take?

All orders are processed within hours of receiving them. Contact lenses are usually sent to you within 48 hours, low vision aids, accessories within 72 hours and most complete glasses within 1 week.

Will you keep me informed of my order?

Your order will be acknowledged within 24 hours. If products are out of stock we will notify you as soon as we are aware of any delay.

What if I don't like my glasses?

All products are thoroughly checked before being dispatched. If you are unhappy with them in any way, simply return them for a full ‘no quibble' refund. (See returns policy)

What if I make an error in ordering?

If you make an error in your order don't worry, we'll correct the order and replace the glasses at no charge! As this is a free complimentary service, we reserve the right to make a charge if, in our opinion, there are persistent errors.

Do you pass on my details to other parties?

In a word - NO. Your details are never disclosed to someone else.

Can I order contact lenses if my prescription is just out of date?

No, it is in your interest and safety that you should have regular contact lens checks. We will not supply lenses beyond the life of your prescription i.e. we will not supply 12 months lenses when your prescription runs out next month say.
